Vocabulary

breaststroke (n): 1-a way of swimming in which the arms make a circular movement in front of the body while the knees are brought up towards the body and then kicked out and back:
E.g.: I can only do the breaststroke.

stamina (n)耐力, the physical and/or mental strength to do something that might be difficult and will take a long time:
E.g.: The triathlon is a great test of stamina.

triathlon (n): a competition in which the people competing must swim, ride a bicycle, and run particular distances without stopping between events

take part- to be involved in an activity with other people:
E.g.: She doesn’t usually take part in any of the class activities.

lap (n): 1- a complete trip around a race track that is repeated several times during a competition:
E.g.: He recorded the fastest lap in last weekend’s Hungarian Grand Prix.
E.g.: After a strong start, she was passed by several runners in/on the final/last lap and finished ninth.

diopter (n): a unit of measurement of the power of a lens, used for measuring a person’s eyesight:
E.g.: A typical short-sighted person in Britain is -4.5 diopters.

contact lenses (n): 1-a small round curved piece of transparent plastic, worn on the surface of the eye to improve your sight:
E.g.: I usually wear contact lenses, but I sometimes wear glasses when my eyes are tired.

as far as I know- used to say what you think is true, although you do not know all the facts:
E.g.: He isn’t coming today, as far as I know.

valley (n): 1- an area of low land between hills or mountains, often with a river running through it:
E.g.: the Nile Valley
E.g.: the Thames/Hudson valley
E.g.: There was snow on the hill tops but not in the valley.
