Vocabulary

brick-and-mortar (adj) 1-existing as a physical building, especially a shop, rather than doing business only on the internet:
E.g.: a brick-and-mortar retailer
E.g.: brick-and-mortar bookstores

back story (n): 1-the things that have happened to someone before you first see or read about that person in a film or story

analysis (n): 1- the act of analysing something:
E.g.: Chemical analysis revealed a high content of copper.
E.g.: I was interested in Clare’s analysis of (= examination of and judgment about) the situation.

department (n): 1-a part of an organization such as a school, business, or government that deals with a particular area of study or work:
E.g.: The sales department is/are having a Christmas party this week.
E.g.: the Department of Health and Social Security

It’s of the utmost importance for me that my capacities are used to the full extent!

utmost (adj):: 1- used to emphasize how important or serious something is:
E.g.: a matter of the utmost importance
E.g.: The situation needs to be handled with the utmost care.

conflicting (adj): 1-Conflicting beliefs, needs, facts, etc. are different and opposing:
E.g.: conflicting opinions/ideas/advice
E.g.: We all work hard to handle the conflicting interests (= interests which are difficult to combine) of a career and a family.

undermine (v): 1- to make someone less confident, less powerful, or less likely to succeed, or to make something weaker, often gradually:
E.g.: The president has accused two cabinet members of working secretly to undermine his position/him.
E.g.: Criticism just undermines their confidence.
