Vocabulary

Secondment (n): 1-a period of time when an employee is sent to work somewhere else temporarily, either to increase the number of workers there, to replace a worker, or to exchange experiences and skills.
E.g.: My last post in the probation service was a secondment to Bristol Prison.
E.g.: Next month Douglas, who has been on secondment from BT, goes back to his old job.
E.g.: This was during her secondment as an economic adviser to the Treasury.

The Treasury (n): 1-the government department, in the UK and some other countries, that is responsible for financial matters such as spending and tax.
E.g.: The Treasury has announced new taxes.
E.g.: She has a new job within the Treasury.
E.g.: A spokesman for the Treasury said the Chancellor would make an announcement later in the week.

Chancellor (n): 1- a person in a position of the highest or high rank, especially in a government or university.
E.g.: Helmut Kohl became the first Chancellor of a united Germany in 1990.
E.g.: A former politician has been appointed Chancellor of the university.

Diligent (adj): 1-careful and using a lot of effort. 2-done in a careful and detailed way.
E.g.: He’s a very diligent student
E.g.: Leo is very diligent in/about his work.
E.g.: Their lawyer was extremely diligent in preparing their case.
E.g.: The discovery was made after years of diligent research.

Due Diligence (n): 1-action that is considered reasonable for people to be expected to take in order to keep themselves or others and their property safe. 2- (business, finance & economics) the detailed examination of a company and its financial records, done before becoming involved in a business arrangement with it.
E.g.: People have to exercise due diligence and watch what’s being bought on their credit cards.
E.g.: Before we decide on wether or not to do business with them, we need to do some due diligence.
