Vocabulary
get the message-to understand what someone is trying to tell you, even if that person is not expressing himself or herself directly:
E.g.: I never answer his calls, so you’d think he’d get the message.
get the message across-to make someone understand:
E.g.: We need to get the message across that too much sun is dangerous.
initiative (n): 1-the ability to use your judgment to make decisions and do things without needing to be told what to do:
E.g.: Although she was quite young, she showed a lot of initiative and was promoted to manager after a year.
E.g.: I shouldn’t always have to tell you what to do, use your initiative (= use your own judgment to decide what to do)!
on your own initiative-If you do something on your own initiative, you plan it and decide to do it yourself without anyone telling you what to do.
tenant (n): 1- a person who pays rent for the use of land or a building
E.g.: Tenants are complaining that vital repairs are not being done.
E.g.: They formed a tenants association.
doable (adj): 1-If something is doable, it can be achieved or performed:
E.g.: This project may be difficult, but I still think it’s doable.
