Vocabulary

parade (n): 1- a large number of people walking or in vehicles, all going in the same direction, usually as part of a public celebration of something:
E.g.: a victory parade
E.g.: We watched the parade from our perch on the scaffolding.
E.g.: Live music and a parade set an upbeat mood for the official opening.

procession (n): 1- a line of people who are all walking or traveling in the same direction, especially in a formal way as part of a religious ceremony or public celebration:
E.g.: a wedding/funeral procession
E.g.: The festival will open with a procession led by the mayor.

mayor (n): 1-a person who is elected or chosen to lead the group who governs a town or city
E.g: They were flattered to be invited to dinner by the mayor.

flatter (be/feel flattered) (v): 1-to feel very pleased and proud because someone has said good things about you or has made you feel important:
E.g.: She was flattered by his attention.
E.g.: They were flattered to be invited to dinner by the mayor.
E.g.: We felt flattered that so many people came to our party.

contemporary (adj): 1- existing or happening now:-modern
E.g.: contemporary music/literature/art/fashion
E.g.: Although the play was written hundreds of years ago, it still has a contemporary (= modern) feel to it.
