Vocabulary

oven (n): 1- the part of a cooker with a door, used to bake or roast food:
E.g.: Place the cake in the oven at 180°C.
E.g.: Bake for 5-7 minutes in a preheated oven.

stew (n): 1-a type of food consisting usually of meat or fish and vegetables cooked slowly in a small amount of liquid:
E.g.: lamb/bean/fish stew
E.g.: She prepared a hearty stew for dinner.

stew (v): 1- to cook meat, fish, vegetables, or fruit slowly and gently in a little liquid

bake (v): 1-to cook inside an oven, without using added liquid or fat:
E.g.: I made the icing while the cake was baking.
E.g.: a baked potato
E.g.: freshly baked bread

roast (v): 1-to cook food in an oven or over a fire:
E.g.: Just roast the chicken in the oven and baste it in oil and lemon.
E.g.: I roasted the vegetables with some olive oil.
E.g.: Roast the lamb in a hot oven for 45 minutes.

roast (n):a large piece of roasted meat

roast (adj): 1– Roast meat or vegetables have been cooked in an oven or over a fire:
E.g.: roast beef/chicken/potatoes
E.g.: roasted red pepper sauce

dice (v): 1- to cut food into small squares:
E.g.: Peel and dice the potatoes.
E.g.: diced carrots

simmer (v): 1-to cook something liquid, or something with liquid in it, at a temperature slightly below boiling:
E.g.: Leave the vegetables to simmer for a few minutes.
