liberal = free, not too restraining

The Netherlands have a very liberal social system. You can buy marijuana (weed) everywhere.

PC = politically correct = speaking in a way where you deliberately try to avoid offending some people

The politically correct term for “black” is “African-American”, the PC term for “white” is “Caucasian”.

regulate = to put rules and regulations

The market is very regulated.

freelance = 自由职业

Many people work from home as freelance writers.

transsexual = shemale = lady-boy = women who had a sex change

meet the needs

If there is a market, that means there is a need that needs to be met. The government can forbid it but it can’t prevent it.

controversial 有争议的

The legality of prostitution is a controversial issue.

moral 道德的 / immoral

Many claim it is not moral to sell the human body.

get into someone’s shoes = to see things from their point of view

You need to get in my shoes to understand why I am so tired in the evening.

ban = forbid = outlaw = make illegal

bound to = 一定会

No matter what you do, it is bound to happen.

entitled to = 有权利

I think everyone is entitled to respect, safety and personal life choices no matter what.
