Vocabulary

Jamaica- (yamaijia) A country in the Carribean that is famous for its rum.

e.g. I love going on holiday to Jamaica and drinking rum and coke all day.

Tipsy- When you drink a little bit and you start feeling happy and dizzy.

e.g. If I drink a shot of vodka I might get tipsy.

Lightweight OR Cheap Date- When someone can’t really drink much or doesn’t have a high tolerance.

e.g. My husband is kind of a cheap date, I’ll finish a bottle and he’ll barely drink a glass.

Tolerance- How much you can stand something.

e.g. I couldn’t tolerate his insulting behaviour anymore so I fired him.

Belated- When something has already passed but you’re making reference to it.

e.g. Oh your birthday was yesterday? Happy belated birthday!

Slang- Words or language that people use very informally.

e.g. When we talk about roasting someone (tu cao) we use it as slang to mean that we will insult them in a funny way.

Subtle- Something that’s not very obvious.

e.g. The durian flavour in my birthday cake was so subtle I barely noticed it.

Yesterday I was still in Nanjing and I chose the earliest train to go back Shanghai. And then I go to the restaurant and order table for 10 people all my family and best friends and we all have dinner together. Unfortunately my husband chose the birthday cake and i didn’t like the flavour. It was chocolate and rum.  It was so expensive and I was so disappointed because he didn’t know what  i like. I invited my friend and she also has a baby a similar age with my son. And also invited my mom and dad inlay and my husbands cousin because my parents are not here.  My mom send me a red pocket on we chat. The appearance was very nice.
