F2F Class Notes (Consultant)

Today we read the book The new baby together. Anna liked the book a lot and said that she wanted to read it first. Anna knew most of the sight words in the book. Some of the longer words were more difficult for her to read, such as “expecting”, “exciting”, “scruffy,” and “mattress”. Anna seemed to understand the story pretty well. She told me she didn’t really understand what a cot is and I explained to her that it is a baby bed. We also focused a lot on the details in the pictures. In this book there are a lot of words in the pictures. The book that Kipper’s class made had a lot of information about babies and we looked at it together.

After reading the book together, we did a little writing exercise. Anna said she didn’t know how to write her name. I wrote something for her to trace and she traced her name. I recommend that Anna start practicing writing her name first. It will make her feel more comfortable about writing in general.
