Air conditioning unit/appliance:  if you don’t have central air, it is a separate unit.

Appliance:  any (usually electronic) device that has one purpose.

Eg. Refrigerator, microwave, oven, air conditioning appliance, TV

Review:

Productive:  to be good at getting things accomplished. To do things quickly and accurately.

Pessimistic (pess – ih – miss – tick)

pessimist (pess – ih – mist):  a person who always is negative, or can’t see the good things in life.

Slow-pace:  slow speed, slow movement, not a lot happening.

Eg.  I like a slow-pace lifestyle.

Fast-pace:  fast speec, hurried lifestyle, a lot happening.

Eg.  Shanghai is a fast-paced city.

Eg.  Xiamen is a slow-paced city.

Pace: a rate of movement/ speed

Eg.  When running a marathon (a long run 5k-10k), you must pace yourself.  = don’t tire yourself out too quickly.

Yesterday is international children day which meant my son had one free day – Yesterday was….  A Day off/ a day off from school.

 

Yesterday my son had a day off, that made me really happy!

Yesterday was international children day, that is always a fun day in our family.

Yesterday we went to the children’s playground where we played interesting games.

This morning I got up at 6:45 am which is very early, so I am tired.

Today I ate a muffin which was really sweet, so my tummy is upset.

So that: in order to—purposeful.

Eg. I bought food so that I can eat this week.

Eg.  This morning you ate a lot of muffins so that you won’t be hungry.

Eg.  I brought my phone charger so that I can call you later.

Eg.  I reviewed my notes so that I would remember the words!

Eg.  I went to the English training center so that my English will improve.

Eg.  I think my English is very poor so I come to Smart English.

Muffin:  a “healthy” cupcake.
