Review:

Prescriptions (per – scrip – shuns)

Pharmacy:  medicine house

Bedroom:

Dresser/ Chest of Drawers:  tall items with drawers to keep clothes in.(sometimes other items)

Ex:  My son keeps his toys in a dresser.

Headboard:  the board at the head of the bed.

Ex:  In the evening I always read novels sitting against the headboard.

Bed frame:  the structure that holds the mattress.

Ex:  A bed must have a bed frame.

Duvet 被子 (doo – vay): A nice blanket, that you will cover with a duvet cover.

Blanket/ Comforter/ Duvet  – could use all of them to describe a blanket, but can also get more specific.

Ex:  In the summer we always use a blanket, in the winter we use duvet because it is warmer.

Sheets:  to protect your mattress.

Ex:  Every month we should clean our sheets.

Pillowcase:  sheets/case to protect your pillows

Ex:  We should wash our pillowcases also.

Throw pillows:  decorative pillows that don’t really serve a purpose.

Ex:  I like to hold a throw pillow while I watch tv.

Bed side table/ nightstand:  the table or small chest of drawers beside the bed.

Ex:  I put my phone on the bed side table.

Closet:  built into the wall.

Ex:  I keep my clothes in a closet.

Wardrobe:  a moveable closet to store clothes.

Ex:  The room didn’t have a closet, so we bought a wardrobe.

Spare room/ guest room:  an extra room in the house for guests—usually there is a bed in it/ pull out couch.

Pull out couch/ hide – a -bed:  a couch/sofa that can turn into a bed at night.  Pull the bed out of the sofa.

Futon:  a couch with a thick mattress that lays flat and turns into a bed.

Bunk beds:  beds that are stacked on top of each other to save space.  – hostels/ college dorms/ children rooms.

Ex:  I slept in bunk beds in college.

Crib:  a bed for babies.

Ex:  The baby needs to sleep in it’s crib.
