Review/ Key vocab/Storytelling with Vocab.

Volley= in football- hitting the ball whilst its in the air.

Half-volley= hitting it after one bounce

Tempo = the pace

Badminton – a racquet sport with a shuttlecock

Shuttlecock= the ball with feathers hit in badminton (slang: birdie)

Squash = a racquet sport played with two people hitting a hard ball above a line

Charge= attack / also an offensive foul where the attacking player hits a stationary defender

Commentators= the people discussing the game

Color commentator:  one of the commentators who isn’t as knowledgeable, but keeps the conversation fun, and keeps the conversation going.

Poop:  not pee/ defecate/excrement. (slang).  #2.

Storytelling:

Commentator, color commentator, charge, badminton, tempo

Chinese are good at badminton and in the Olympic games Chinese team, whatever men or women team we went almost the gold medal in the badminton. So our commentators are legendary badminton players but they always say some professional words and we are not really interested in that.  We just want to enjoy the game so there always be a color commentators sit beside him and convert his word to some easy way to know.  What I remembered is in the last Olympic games Chinese badminton team beat the Singapore team in the finals and the two men, ranking the top two players in the world.  It’s very fierce competition and the score was very tight, and finally our players beat the Singapore player in his tempo.  That’s the best badminton game I have ever seen.  After the game the other players and the coach charged him because they were very exciting and they won the golden medal.

Eg.  “to put it simply”/ “to break it down”
