Vocabulary

Accessory (n): 1- something added to a machine or to clothing that has a useful or decorative purpose.
E.g.: She wore a green dress with matching accessories.

Slave (n): 1- a person who is legally owned by someone else and is forced to work for that person for no money.
E.g.: Black slaves used to work on the cotton plantations of the southern United States.

Arranged Marriage (n): 1- a marriage in which the parents choose who their son or daughter will marry.
E.g.: Arranged marriages are still very common in India.

Norm (n): 1- an accepted standard or a way of behaving or doing things that most people agree with:
E.g.: When he moved to Europe, he had to adapt to the local cultural, political and ethical norms.

Ethic (n): 1- a system of accepted beliefs that control behavior, especially such a system based on morals:
E.g.: The ethics of journalism are much debated.

Ethnicity (n): 1- a large group of people who have the same national, racial, or cultural origins, or the state of belonging to such a group.
E.g.: They place no importance on ethnicity.
