eg: “I’m graduating this summer.”

how do you say this in English?

cable – metal wire often used in electronics or to support heavy things, like bridges and elevators. eg: “The monitor cable for my computer needs to be replaced.”

escalator – moving stairs eg: “Take the escalator to the 2nd floor, because the elevator doesn’t go to the 2nd floor.”

leave out – to not include eg: “When some Americans speak they leave out then end of words, especially if they end in ING. For example, he was runnin’ to the store.” “Don’t leave out any important information.”

intersection – shi zi lu kou – cross streets eg: “Go through this intersection and take a left after.”

appliances – a kind of electronics, used for homecare, oven, fridge, microwave…

electronics store – USA: Best Buy China: Bai Nao hui, Sunning, Guo Mei

adapter – to change from one source to another eg: “This monitor needs an adapter to connect to that computer.”

Pronunciation

For long words and very short words you leave out a lot of the pronunciation.

For example: To, (T’ or te) “I’m goin’ t’ the store.”

And (An’ N’) “He was eating peas N’ carrots.”
