Vocabulary

Seniority – means having longer work experience in a particular field or particular company.

Celeste has seniority over Tony at SmartEnglish. Because Celeste has worked there longer.

Aside from the lead technician I have the most seniority.

Striving – to try hard/ work hard for something

eg: “I’m striving to get better samples.”

Comprehensive – including everything, covering or involving much

eg: “We have a comprehensive plan on how to boost sales next year.”

Writing exercise

The teacher will write a sentence, then you explain how or why that sentence is true.

  1. I’m continuously striving to improve my product knowledge.

By visiting the factories I always gained product knowledge from the production line. By talking with the other garment technicians on the supplier’s end, I have a more comprehensive understanding of the products.  After I graduated from University I began working in garment technology. In order to produce a better sample I need more knowledge about materials, workmanship and pattern structure.
