Vocabulary

boy > man > male student > male university student

financially stable – can earn money, and don’t worry about money

financially unstable – not able to earn money, does worry about money

pocket money – freely given

allowance – money that is earned from doing chores

chores/s – cleaning jobs around the house

eg. clean your room, walk the dog, wash the dishes, clean the bathroom, make your bed

Speaking exercise

Mom, I want/would like to earn more money by doing chores at home like make my bed when I get up in the morning.

I can sweep the whole floor, I can wash dishes after every meal (after breakfast, lunch, dinner).

I can do other chores / I can do other kinds of chores like scrub the bathroom sink and scrub the toilet.
