Vocabulary
Touché (excl): 1- used to admit that someone has made a good point against you in an argument or discussion:
E.g.: “You say we should support British industries, but you always drink French wines.” “Touché.”
Exclamation (n): 1- something you say or shout suddenly because of surprise, fear, pleasure, etc..
E.g.: We all jumped up from our seats, with exclamations of surprise.
Obsolete (adj): 1- not in use any more, having been replaced by something newer and better or more fashionable:
E.g.: Gas lamps became obsolete when electric lighting was invented.
Technical (n): 1- relating to the knowledge and methods of a particular subject or job.
E.g.: Personally, I found some parts of the book a little too technical to follow.
Technology (n): 1- (the study and knowledge of) the practical, especially industrial, use of scientific discoveries.
E.g.: What this country needs is a long-term policy for investment in science and technology.
Subordinate (n): 1- having a lower or less important position:
E.g.: The individual’s needs are subordinate to those of the group.
Hierarchy (n): 1- a system in which people or things are arranged according to their importance.
E.g.: He rose quickly through the political hierarchy to become party leader.
High-end (adj): 1- intended for people who want very good quality products and who do not mind how much they cost.
E.g.: The company specializes in high-end electronic products.
