compound sentence – two part sentence, with one part depending on the other one.

eg: “I have a dog that is really pretty.”    (The first part can be a sentence alone. ) I Have a dog.    …is really pretty, (CAN NOT be a sentence.)

eg: “I live in Shanghai where i grew up.”

eg: “I have a good friend who is from Beijing.”
