how are you? = ni zenme yang / ni hao
very good / great = hen hao
good = hao
not too bad / alright / ok = hai ke yi
eg. I am ok = wo shi hai ke yi de
and you / how about you / what about you? = ni ne?
because = ying wei
eg. I am hot because it is hot today
after that / and then = ran hou
eg. I went to work, and then I came home
