To prefer – what you like more than other things, you prefer

e.g. After doing the gaokao test, you have to fill in a form to let the Chinese Education System know which major you’d prefer to study.

Gruesome – horrible, terrible

e.g. The preparations before the gaokao test are gruesome.

Similar – when things are sort of the same, they are similar

e.g. A lot of people experience similar feelings after completing the gaokao exam.

I can better improve my English – I can improve my English

Write a form – fill in a form

The law is not my first choice – Law was not my first choice

I study French for two years – I studied French for two years (past tense)

A lot of students can’t keep health – A lot of students can’t stay healthy
