Vocabulary 词汇

Seem – to appear, to look

Ex. You seem sad today, is everything okay?

Details – a small, specific fact about something bigger, 细说

Ex. When describing a picture, we should include many details.

Fireplace – an area inside of a house meant for a fire

Stockings – a kind of long sock usually used during Christmas.

Describing Pictures

In this picture, we are at [location].

Ex. In this picture, we are inside of a house.

The time of day appears to be [time of day] because [reason].

Ex. The time of day appears to be evening because it is dark outside and all the lights are on.

How to add details:

On the right side of the picture, there is [object].

Ex. On the right side of the picture, there is a fireplace.

On the left side of the picture, there is [object].

Ex. On the left side of the picture, there is a rocking chair.

In the center of the picture, you can see a [object].

Ex. In the center of the picture, you can see a Christmas tree.

On the [location], there is [object].

Ex. On top of the Christmas tree, there is a star.

Above the [location], there is [object].

Ex. Above the fireplace, there are some Christmas decorations.

Ex. Above the fireplace, there are some stockings.

In this picture, we are inside of a house. The time of day appears to be evening because it is dark outside and all the lights are on. On the right side of the picture, there is a fireplace with a fire inside. On the left side of the picture, there is a rocking chair, but there is no one sitting in it. In the center of the picture, you can see a Christmas tree. The Christmas tree has many beautiful decorations on it. On top of the Christmas tree, there is a bright, gold  star. Above the fireplace, there are some more Christmas decorations. They look like plants with many lights and bells inside. Above the fireplace, there are some stockings. In looks like the stockings are empty, but under the Christmas tree, you can see many presents. The season seems to winter because Christmas is always celebrated in the winter. This picture may have been taken in America because Americans celebrate Christmas with these kinds of decorations.
