We use honorific (form of language) to the elder. The elder means not too much older even 1 year older than me. Therefore the age is very important thing in Korea. When you meet someone you have to ask his age and decide to use honorific or not. You have to call them elder brother (elder sister, teacher,senior..) From old times most Koreans like to rank themselves (precedence, order, command) These days it creates bad effect in the office. We`re living in an era that horizontal organization is very important to evolve the business. But that culture creates vertical organization. For change, we try to treat somebody to person not to the rank and some company switch from naming one`s position to the english name. (The time is not yet call Korean name.It is too rude)
