to hit the sack = to go to sleep

to look for the needle in a haystack = to look for something which is very difficult to find, such as a document in a large archive

pin =/= needle

to (be able to) hear a pin drop = very quiet

safety pin = a pin which has a protective hood over the sharp end, used for attaching two cloth items to each other

clothes pin = a pin used to attach clothes to a line so they can dry

glamorous = prestigious, impressive
