Vocabulary

What do you do here? – 你在这里做什么

Vacation – 放假

To go on vacation – to travel somewhere during your vacation

e.g.  I am going to China during this summer vacation.

jogging – running for exercise

e.g. I go jogging a lot because it is good for my health.

Health – 健康

e.g. Jogging is good for my health.

Also – 也

Afterwards – 后来

Week – 周

End – 周

Weekend – 周末

to live – 住 (I live, you live, he lives)

e.g. My brother lives far away.

All day – 整天

Tenant – 租户

e.g. Angela is having lunch with a tenant today.

to breathe – 呼吸

Chinese New Year 春节 （past tense 过去）

I went to Suzhou for Chinese New Year. I stayed at a hotel. I swam and went jogging. I also went shopping with my parents. I stayed there for three days. Afterwards, I came back to Shanghai.

The weekend 周末 (future tense 将来）

On Saturday, I will go to my brother’s house. I will play with my nephew. My brother lives far away. I will stay there all day. Afterwards, I will come back to my home. On Sunday, I will stay at home. I will watch TV and clean my room.

Grammar

subject (题目，谁，什么东西） + verb (东西或是人做什么？）+ object

I 我 + to do 做 + something 东西

过去 past tense of to go = I went

possessive 的

我的，你的，哥哥的

brother’s house

brother + house

‘s = possessive

possessive = 一个人的东西 (的）

Tanya 的 class – Tanya’s class

I will be playing with him – 我会跟他在玩

I will play with him – 我会跟他玩

to be + verb + -ing: means something is continuous (“在“ 做一个东西）

e.g. Tanya is teaching. Angela is paying attention in class.

e.g. We are breathing   （to breathe – 呼吸)

example: to teach

The teacher + to be + ing: the teacher is teaching

I am sitting in class.
