When I arrived at the restaurant, I found she hadn’t gotten there yet, then I sent a message to her on WeChat. – When I arrived at the restaurant I couldn’t find her/didn’t see her so I sent her a Wechat message.

Last night I said to my husband, “I will cook dinner.” – quotes do not change even if the story is from the past

eg. I need you to copy this sentence word for word. 

Catherine:  “On the way, but I would be late, I took subway from my home.”

Tony: “On the way, but I ‘ll be late, I just left home for the subway.

Celeste: “On my way but I’ll be late. I just left home and I’m taking the subway.”

eg. When will the baby arrive? = When will the baby get here?
