Vocabulary

composition – overall placement and design of image and objects in the image

eg: There is a lot of psychology involved in image composition.

depth – the third dimension, how deep objects are in the image

eg: The depth of the image is astounding, it seems 3d.

weight – about composition, this means the size of objects in the image

eg: Heavily weighted objects draw your eye to that part of the image

rule of thirds – divide the frame into equal 1/3 parts

eg: Photographers use the rule of thirds to compose images.

symmetry  – equal sides

eg: Symmetry is very natural, humans are always looking for it.

geometry – study of shapes

eg: I was never good at geometry.

fibonacci sequence – a mysterious geometry found in nature and used by many artists

leading lines – lines in the image that your eye follow to a certain point

eg: The leading lines all go to the center of the image toward the vanishing point.
