Vocabulary

smog – smoke + fog, air pollution

eg: “Smog is China is really bad.”

sore – have some persistent light pain

eg: “I’m so sore from going to the gym yesterday.”

persistent – something that lasts a long time, or not stopping

eg: “She is really persistent, I think she really wants this job.” “He was very persistent, even though they broke up, he kept calling her.”

throat – part of your body between your head and body

eg: “I have a sore throat.”

turn a blind eye – to refuse to believe what is happening, or pretend you didn’t see it

eg: “My boss turned a blind eye to my lateness, probably because I’m his son.”

the third degree – to ask an excessive amount of questions about a simple topic

eg: “I just went to dinner with some coworkers but my wife gave me the third degree.”

Grammar

Change a verb to an adjective: 

Annoy (v). – to bother.

Annoying (adj) – something that bothers you

Annoyed (adj) – you feel bothered
