xiao – a few, a little. Can be use two ways in Chinese but not the same way in English.
a few – more than one, but not many
I have a few friends. I’m a few hungry. I live in a few building.
a little – not big, small, not much, can use as an ADJ.
I live in a little building, it’s not very tall. I’m a little hungry.
I have a little friends. I have some friends.
