Vocabulary
sarcasm – when you say something, but you mean the opposite. not nice.
e.g. Miya told me “you’re such a good teacher”, but she said it while laughing and that’s how I know she was being sarcastic.
sincere – saying something that you mean, to be honest
e.g. A lot of people say things they don’t mean and they’re not being sincere.
lingo – slang for language
e.g. Learn a new lingo while doing something else.
baffling – so surprising that you don’t know what to think of it
e.g. German grammar is truly baffling.
it’s raining cats and dogs (idiom)Â – it’s raining a lot
idiom – æˆè¯
quirky – strange or nerdy in a cute way
e.g. A lot of girls at Japanese cartoon expos are sort of quirky.
Hindi – the main language of India
e.g. If you’d live in Mumbai, it might be helpful to speak Hindi.
linguist – language expert
e.g. Linguists have done a lot of research on the history of language.
acoustic – everything that has to do with sound or hearing
e.g. The acoustics in concert halls is usually impeccable.
impeccable – perfect
e.g. Michelle Obama always looks impeccable.
booze – alcohol
e.g. People usually drink a lot of booze on New Year’s Eve.
