Vocabulary

On the waiting list

Visa – document to allow you to stay in a foreign country

eg: “My visa will give me about 6 months to find a job after I graduate.”

subsidiary – a smaller company owned by a larger parent company

eg: “JWT is a subsidiary of WPP.”

….-nut – a person who is obsessed with sth.

eg: “He is a real gun-nut.” (he loves guns)

geek/nerd – a person interested in intellectual things and doesn’t have great social skills

eg: “I’m not a computer nerd so I don’t wanna study Computer science.”  “I’m a comic book nerd, I love anything done by Marvel.”

schizophrenia – a mental disease where a person has split personalities

eg: “Schizophrenic people should always stay on their medicine.”

anti-hero – a hero that does good things but in a bad or selfish way

eg: “Deadpool proves that audiences love anti-heros.”

acoustic guitar – non-electric guitar. sound resonates within the body.

eg: “I like the sound of acoustic guitars, it’s very natural and soothing.”

soothing – make you feel relaxed or less tense

eg: “The music was so soothing that I fell asleep.”

override -to disregard, set aside, or nullify

eg: “They need someone to override the computer if it gets hacked.”

gut – natural feeling that tells you what to do or what is right

eg: “If you are in doubt, just go with your gut.” “I had a gut feeling.”

intuition –  the quality or ability of having such direct perception or quick insight.

eg: “Pilots have a very high level of intuition.”
