Vocabulary


Racism – discrimination based on race
Ex. African Americans are often victims of racism in America.
Sexism – discrimination based on sex
Ex. Sexist employers often pay women less money for the same work.
Colorism – preferring one skin colour more than another, even within a race
Ex. Colorism is China encourages people to pursue whiter skin in the  name of beauty.
Tanline – the point where skin colour changes because of a tan.

This phrase means “don’t expect anything big because you will be disappointed.”
Ex. I ca’t wait to come to your birthday party! -Don’t get your hopes  up.
Farmer’s Tan
A tan that stops where clothing begins.
Ex. His Farmer’s Tan is so bad that his arms are almost black, but his  torso is white.
