In the west the ghost festival is called Halloween, but in China we call it Zhong Yuan Festival. It is one day in the 7th month of the lunar calendar every year. I heard two legends of that day. If you hear someone call you / call your name, you should never look back because there are 2 candles on your shoulders, so if you look back your lights will go out and the ghost will take your soul so you will die.
The second legend is about your death family members will go back home to watch or see us. So, every family need to prepare some food or wine to give them to eat. I will prepare one chicken, one fish, one pork meat and some vegetables and some wine and rice. My mom told me, in that day, the ghost door/the door of the ghost area, will open. The second legend/myth/belief/story  is about your dead/deceased family members who will come back home to visit/see us. So, every family needs to prepare some food or wine to give them to eat and drink. I will prepare one whole chicken and fish, one pork dish, some vegetables, some wine and rice.

My mom told me, on that day, the door to the Underworld will open. When they finish their/the meal they will go back to the Underworld.
