Corrections

Last night I watched one episode of Friends. It was about the New Yearā€™s Eve party/celebration. The six friends made a pact that they wouldnā€™t bring their boyfriends and girlfriendsĀ atĀ toĀ the party and wouldĀ just hadĀ have aĀ dinner together ( all byĀ themselves.)

During the episode,Ā Ross got a monkey, Marcel, from his colleague. Phoebe met oneĀ aĀ scientist, David when she was singing in Central Perk Cafe and they started dating later. As theĀ New Yearā€˜s Eve was coming,Ā and the six friends began to prepare (things)Ā for theĀ partythings at Monicaā€™s apartment. During their talkingĀ conversation, some of them mentionedĀ they knew they might not keep their pact . Rachel told them her boyfriend went out of town but would try to come back to celebrate New Year with her. Monica, Phoebe, Chandler and Joey would also bring somebody to the party.

At the day of the party,Ā Then each of them forgot the pact and brought his or her friend toĀ the party. But Ross came with Marcel, and hehated itĀ was unhappyĀ because everyone broke their pact. Phoebe split up with her boyfriend as he was going to Minsk. Rachelā€™s boyfriend missed the plane and she felt bad for itĀ him.

As the countdown to New Year started, they forgot all their troubles butĀ and just enjoyed the festival at that moment.

During the episode,Ā Ross got a monkey, Marcel, from his colleague. Phoebe metĀ aĀ scientist, David, when she was singing in Central Perk Cafe and they started going out.Ā As theĀ New Yearā€˜s Eve was coming,Ā the six friends began to get readyĀ for theĀ partyĀ at Monicaā€™s apartment. When they were hanging out, some of them mentionedĀ they might go back on their word. Rachel told them her boyfriend went out of town but would try to come back to celebrate New Year’s with her. Monica, Phoebe, Chandler and Joey would also bring somebody to the party.

At the day of the party,Ā each of themĀ brought a friend toĀ the party. But Ross came with Marcel, and heĀ was pissed offĀ because everyone broke their pact. Phoebe split up with her boyfriend as he was going to Minsk. Rachelā€™s boyfriend missed the plane and she felt bad forĀ him.

As the countdown started, they realized it wasn’t a big deal so they just relaxed.Ā

dating = going out

prepare = get ready

spend time together = hang outĀ

might not keep their pact = go back on your word

eg. If you make a promise we can also call it “your word”. If you do not keep it, you go back on your word, you just didn’t keep your promise.

eg. I’m pissed off that my friends cancelled on me.

eg. I’m pissed offĀ because I didn’t book the class.

eg. I’m pissed off because Olivia made a mess in the house after I just cleaned it.

big deal = when sth is very important

eg. When Monica was angry during Thanksgiving she thought it was a big deal that no one asked her what she wanted.

eg. Your wedding anniversary is a big deal.

eg. If you forget Olivia’s birthday, I will be pissed off! Her birthday is a big deal!

eg. Taking care of Olivia and spending time with her is a big deal for me!
