Vocabulary 词汇
Middleman – a person who organizes a deal between two other people
Ex. Some people try to find cheaper prices by avoiding the middleman and shopping directly from the producer.
Expired – something that can no longer be used, usually used for food and memberships
Ex. Before you buy milk, you should always check to see how much time is left before it expires.
Ex. After my gym membership expires at the end of the month, I will start working out at home.
Copper – a pinkish-gold coloured metal, 铜
Ex. Copper is a popular choice for jewellery because it’s cheap.
Bronze – a brownish-gold coloured metal, 青铜’
Ex. During the Bronze-Age, Bronze was used for weapon-making.
Tan – verb, noun, to sit in sunlight so that your skin gets darker
Ex. Many western countries consider tanned skin to be beautiful.

Expressions 成语
The expression “he got the short end of the stick” means that somebody got the bad end of a deal. This comes from the tradition of “picking sticks” in order to make a decision fairly.
