I just got off the plane flew from Sanming in Fujian province to Shanghai. It is the shortest flight I’ve ever had, which only cost 90 minutes. But going home from the airport seems like a long journey. So I decided to write what happened during the two days trip in this mountainous city.
Before going to this second-tier small city, I was a bit reluctant because I had to use my merely few annual vacation to go to this poor and backward place to attend a cousin in law’s wedding, and also to be her bridesmaid despite the fact that I barely knew her. I had been complaining a lot before the trip but as I got there I found that it is actually a beautiful city with endless green mountains and hospitable local people. The food there is surprisingly good and cheap. What’s interesting is that the locals loving soups to a degree which they would order three different soups in one meal in restaurants. They have only two five stars hotel there, the one we lived only cost around three hundred yuan per night, which although is not as fancier as the ones in shanghai, their delicate design and nice service got me in my heart.
About the wedding day, as one of the two bridesmaids, I accompanied the couple to shoot the photos on Monday morning. We climbed up a mountain called green way where you could see a fantastic city view. It has the perfect southern climate now, warm and fresh, temporarily relieved me from the smoggy and frisky Shanghai.
In Shanghai wedding, bridesmaids normally are responsible for red packets collection and bringing the ring to brides in the ceremony. While I didn’t make much of use in Sanming except standing aside like a ritual girl, because we don’t share the same customs I guess. I didn’t have much fun, so I left early after stuffing myself.
