It is said that cats have nine lives. Then what will happen when a selfish and neglectful businessman’s soul trapped in the body of a cat?
The movie Nine lives has been on my list for a long time. Because it’s leading actor is Kevin Spacey who is known for the performance of an insidious politician in House of Cards. The contrast itself sounds so interesting and attracting. So this afternoon I had the chance to cross it off my list.
The whole story is kind of indicated by the title. Tom Brand, a successful CEO, built his own empire from scratch at cost of one divorce and negligence of his current family. Because of an accident or a fate, his soul is exchanged with a cat that he bought for his daughter. So his body is in coma while he has the chance to stay with his wife and daughter and to care something he didn’t know or notice before. In the end, he understands the truth that love is sacrifice and is willing to save his son regardless of his own safety. Cat’s last two lives saves him at last and it’s a happy ending.
Although some scenes are funny and Spacey’s dubbing is vivid and lively, I think the movie is not what I have expected. There is not much innovation in the script and less performance of the actor.

The movie Nine lives has been on my list for a long time, because of its leading actor, Kevin Spacey, who is known for the performance of an insidious politician in House of Cards. The contrast itself sounds so interesting and attracting! So this afternoon I had the chance to cross it off my list.
The whole story is kind of indicated in the title. Tom Brand, a successful CEO, built his own empire from scratch at cost of a divorce and negligence towards his current family. Because of an accident or a fate, his soul is exchanged with the one of a cat that he bought for his daughter. So his body is in coma while he has the chance to stay with his wife and daughter and to care about things he hadn’t known or noticed before. In the end, he understands that love is sacrifice and is willing to save his son, regardless of his own safety. The cat’s last two lives save him at last, so there’s a happy ending.
Although some scenes are funny and Spacey’s dubbing is vivid and lively, I think the movie is not what I expected. There is not much innovation in the script and the actor isn’t actually in it most of the time.
