Vocabulary

Pleasant (adj): 1- enjoyable, attractive, friendly, or easy to like:
E.g.: Harold did his best to be pleasant to the old man.
E.g.: It was pleasant to sit down after standing for hours.

Dull (adj): 1- not interesting or exciting in any way. 2- not clear, bright, or shiny:
E.g.: She wrote dull, respectable articles for the local newspaper.
E.g.: He’s pleasant enough, but really dull.
E.g.: We could just see a dull glow (辉光) given off by the fire’s last embers (余烬).
E.g.: The first day of our holiday was dull (= cloudy).

Excessive (adj): 1- too much:
E.g.: Excessive exercise can sometimes cause health problems.
E.g.: Any more pudding would simply be excessive.

Innovate (v): 1- to introduce changes and new ideas.
E.g.: The fashion industry is always desperate to innovate.

Prejudice (n): 1- an unfair and unreasonable opinion or feeling, especially when formed without enough thought or knowledge.
E.g.: Laws against racial prejudice must be strictly enforced.
E.g.: The campaign aims to disprove the prejudice that AIDS is confined to the homosexual community.
