Vocabulary
Dilemma (n): 1- a situation in which a difficult choice has to be made between two different things you could do:
E.g.: The president is clearly in a dilemma about/over how to tackle the crisis.
E.g.: She faces the dilemma of disobeying her father or losing the man she loves.
Allergy (n): 1- a condition that makes a person become sick or develop skin or breathing problems because they have eaten certain foods or been near certain substances. (adj: Allergic)
E.g.: I have no food allergies.
E.g.: I’m allergic to dust.
Oath (n): 1- a promise, especially that you will tell the truth in a law court.
E.g.: The witness placed her hand on the Bible and took the oath (= promised to tell the truth).
Testify (n): 1-to speak seriously about something, especially in a law court, or to give or provide proof.
E.g.: He testified that he had seen the man leaving the building around the time of the murder.
Impeach (v): 1-to make a formal statement saying that a public official is guilty of a serious offence in connection with their job, especially in the US. (n: Impeachment)
E.g.: The governor was impeached for wrongful use of state money.
Incompetent (n): 1- not having the ability to do something as it should be done:
E.g.: He has described the government as corrupt and incompetent.
Herd (n): 1– large group of animals of the same type that live and feed together.
E.g.: When we visited Africa, we saw huge herd of elephants. They were amazing!
Mature (adj/v): 1- Mature people behave like adults in a way that shows they are well developed emotionally. 2- to become more developed mentally and emotionally and behave in a responsible way. 3- to become completely grown physically
E.g.: He’s very mature for his age.
E.g.: Girls are said to mature faster than boys.
E.g.: Humans take longer to mature than most other animals.
