Children in Shanghai are really tired/stressed/pressured because they need to learn a lot of things before they go to primary school.
I remember a few years ago, my friends sharing their experiences of how to prepare their child for their education before entering primary school. I had hoped for my child to have enough time to play. Until my friends shared their experiences. Now, I have started to think about my daughter and how to make her stand out.
Perhaps, that was influenced by my environment. So I want to do more things for her because I don’t want her to question my devotion/contribution/dedication to her.

eg. I remember your favorite color.

eg. I remembered her birthday. I remember her birthday.

eg. I remember when you used to drink.

eg.I remember the day we met like it was yesterday.

Verbal phrase:

To stand out. Shine above the rest.

eg. They want your kid to stand out so that they can get into a good school.

The aptitude test for young learners to go to school in the US/CANADA is called the SSAT.
