Vocabulary
mock – fake
e.g. Lina and I are going to do a mock conversation to see how many words I can use that she doesn’t know.
to mock someone – is to make fun of someone
e.g. Lina is mocking me because my hair is funny today.
apprentice – a student of a specific, practical type, someone who has to learn from someone for a period of time
e.g. If I want to make swords, I need to find someone who can make swords, so I can become his or her apprentice.

faint –Â very slight
to faint – to suddenly lose consciousness
e.g. My friend is scared of seeing blood and he always faints when he cuts himself.
acquaintance – someone you know
e.g. None of Lina’s acquaintances are afraid of blood.
caricatures – an imitation of someone or something that’s exaggerated
e.g. Japanese cartoons usually have characters who are caricatures of real Japanese people.
exaggerated – 夸å¼
to criticize –Â to say bad things about something
e.g. Lina is watching a Japanese TV show wherein the host criticizes modern society.
criticism – the things that people say when they criticize
e.g. Lina is watching a Japanese TV show wherein the host criticizes modern society, but not everybody appreciates the criticism.
taboo – something that society says is not okay to talk about
e.g. Talking about sex is usually taboo.
rooster – male chicken
e.g. In Belgium, we say that roosters make a kukelekuu sound!
podcast – episodic audio that people put online for an audience
e.g. There’s a lot of interesting podcasts.
