i.e. The dog and the hog sat on the log.
i.e. I can’t see because of the fog.

cop 警察, mop 拖把, hop 蹦跳, pop 戳破, top 陀螺
i.e. Pop said, “Do not drop the mop.”
i.e. I am very happy so I hop.
i.e. I pop a balloon.
i.e. I play the top.

-ot
hot 热的, cot 急救床, dot 点, pot 锅
i.e. Do not touch the big pot. It is hot.
i.e. I am very hot.
i.e. Someone is hurt. We need a cot.
i.e. There is a dot on the paper.

Grammar

Present Simple Tense 一般现在时
talk about current facts or actions that happens often

be 动词：am/is/are 是
I am 我是

you are 你/你们是

he/she/it is 他/她/它是

we/they are 我们/他们是

Positive -> Negative
i.e. I am a teacher.  -> I am not a teacher.

be 动词：am/is/are not 不是

I am not 我不是

you are not 你不是

he/she/it is not 他/她/它不是

we/they are not 我们/他们不是

动作动词：regular verb +s 第三人称单数动词+s
i.e. I look at you. vs. He looks at you.

I, you, we, they use regular verbs
he, she, it or any third person singular needs to +s

Positive -> Negative 
i.e. I watch TV. -> I don’t watch TV.

I/you/we/they don’t + verb. (base form)
he/she/it doesn’t + verb. (base form)
i.e. He drinks water. -> He doesn’t drink water.
