Vocabulary

the dark web
​parts of the internet that are encrypted (= use a secret code), that cannot be found using ordinary search engines, and that are sometimes used for criminal activity:

E.g.: The dark web can provide a haven for extremist groups to exchange ideas.
E.g.: Illegal drugs and weapons can be bought on the dark web.

over the top-too extreme and not suitable, or demanding too much attention or effort, especially in an uncontrolled way: abbreviation OTT
E.g.: I thought the decorations were way (= very) over the top.
E.g.: The speech was a bit OTT.

broadcaster (n): 1-someone whose job is to speak on radio or television programmes播音员;广播员
E.g.: He was a famous broadcaster in the 1930s.
他是20世纪30年代的著名播音员。

show off (v):to behave in a way that is intended to attract attention or admiration, and that other people often find annoying:
E.g.: She only bought that sports car to show off and prove she could afford one.
E.g. :He’s always showing off to his classmates.

show-off (n):a person who shows off (= behaves in a way intended to attract attention that other people often find annoying):
E..g: Jimena’s such a show-off, she always wants to be the centre of attention.

plagiarize (v): 1-to use another person’s ideas or work and pretend that it is your own剽窃,抄袭
E.g.: The book contains numerous plagiarized passages.

E.g.: If you compare the two books side by side, it is clear that the author of the second has plagiarized (from the first).
如果你把两本书放在一起比较,就会发现第二本书的作者显然是抄袭了(第一本书)。
