Vocabulary

Master’s Degree- The degree you get after the bachelor’s degree.

e.g. I want to get a master’s in business administration.

PhD- the degree you get after the master’s degree, the highest one.

e.g. I have a PhD from Harvard but now I work at McDonald’s.

Raccoon- (huanxiong) an animal that eats garbage at night.

e.g. I think raccoons look very cute.

Poncho-  A large piece of fabric or cloth you wear over your body, especially to keep the rain off.

e.g. Most eleme drivers wear blue rain ponchos.

Heritage- Someone’s background their original culture.

e.g. I was born in Canada but my heritage is Chinese.

Shutterbug- Someone who really likes to take photos.

e.g. My father is a real shutterbug, he always has his camera everywhere.

Orchestra- A big group of people playing many instruments at the same time.

e.g. I played the violin for the Shanghai national orchestra.

Curb- The part outside your house, near the street where you put your garbage.

e.g. Let’s take this old sofa out to the curb.

Merge- To go in somewhere else, especially when driving.

e.g. I didn’t merge in time so now I have to turn around.

Thread- A piece of string

e.g. I always pull out the loose threads from my clothes.

Judgemental- someone who judges you

e.g. Please stop being so judgemental.

Spontaneous- To do something without thinking

e.g. Let’s be spontaneous and go travel to Japan

This morning I got up at six and then I packed my ID card and some documents then I went to the medical check center/hospital I spent three hours to finish my medical check. Then I went back to my home and watched a wideo with my roommate, called the Island and then we cooked then we had lunch we cooked by ourselves and then I stayed at home to study maths because i will have an exam at the end of october, around 6 pm i came out to here and got English.

Correction

Then I went back home and watched a video with my roommate called the Island and then we cooked lunch and ate it in front of the tv. Then I stayed at home to study math because i will have an exam at the end of october, around 6 pm i came here to have class with you.
