Vocabulary
Paragraph (n): 1- a short part of a text, consisting of at least one sentence and beginning on a new line. It usually deals with a single event, description, idea, etc.
E.g.: Can you find the three mistakes in this paragraph?
E.g.: Now turn to page 23 and look at the first paragraph.
Flaw (n): 1- a fault, mistake, or weakness.
E.g.: I returned the material because it had a flaw in it.
E.g.: There’s a fatal flaw in your reasoning.
E.g.: This report is full of flaws.
Flawed (adj): 1- not perfect, or containing mistakes:
E.g.: Diamonds are still valuable, even when they are flawed.
E.g.: His argument is deeply flawed.
Intend (v): 1- to have as a plan or purpose.
E.g.: We intend to go to Australia next year.
E.g.: Somehow I offended him, which wasn’t what I’d intended.
Intention (n): 1- something that you want and plan to do.
E.g.: It wasn’t my intention to exclude her from the list – I just forgot her.
E.g.: I have no intention of changing my plans just to fit in with his.
E.g.: He’s full of good intentions, but he never does anything about them!
Tend (v): 1- to be likely to behave in a particular way or have a particular characteristic:
E.g.: We tend to get cold winters and warm, dry summers in this part of the country.
E.g.: I think you tend to eat more in the winter.
TendencyIf someone has a tendency to do or like something, they will probably do it or like it. 2- If there is a tendency for something to happen, it is likely to happen or it often happens.
E.g.: His tendency to exaggerate is well known.
E.g.: There is a tendency for unemployment to rise in the summer.
