Vocabulary

Constrict – to squeeze something

e.g Don’t constrict my hand

e.g That is a boa constrictor

Magnificent – really good

e.g Curry is a magnificent dish

e.g Painting is a magnificent career

Conventional – normal especially when comparing to how things are normally done everyday (Unconventional – opposite)

e.g This is a conventional engine (means this is not a new type of engine)

e.g Living away from home is unconventional for most Chinese youths (means it’s not normal for youths to stay away from home)

Acquaintance – meeting someone (verb), someone that you briefly met (noun)

e.g I am delighted to make your acquaintance

e.g She is not my friend, only my acquaintance
