Instructions to make a paper lantern:

To make the lanterns you will need the materials on the table.

Measure 15 cm on both long sides and mark the paper.

Measure 10.5 cm from the top and mark it on both short sides

Draw a diagonal line from the mark on the top part of the paper to each mark on the short sides of the paper.

Now do the same, but connect the marks on the side to the mark on the bottom. You should have a diamond shape.

Draw a line through the center of the diamond, from the short side of the paper.

Now make 3 marks on each side of the line, at 3cm, 6cm, and 9cm in.

On the left side, draw a short line, from each mark, to the bottom of the diamond.

On the right side, draw a short line from each mark to the top of the diamond.

Now, cut out the diamond.

Cut along each short line, DON’T cut all the way through.

Now roll the paper and hook the long inside strips together like this.

Now, take all the rolled papers and hook the middle strips together on each side.

Now, hook the outside strips together, like this.

After they are all connected, turn it over carefully, and hook the last strips together.

Now Part 1 is finished.

Take a new piece of paper, measure up 6cm from the long side, and draw a straight line across the paper. Then cut it off.

Roll it up and put it inside the other finished part, to see how big it should be. Then take it out and glue it together.

Glue the center rolled paper to the inside.

Then glue the cardboard ring on top of it.

Then tie a piece of string to the top so you can hang it up.
