too much – an excessive amount, it is more than you want, it is not good

eg: I ate too much, I feel sick.

eg: It’s too quiet in here, something is wrong.

very much – a lot, but maybe not excessive

eg: I ate so much food, I feel sleepy.

eg: It’s very quiet in here, I feel relaxed.

eg: It was a very hard exam, but not too hard, I still got a good grade.

Grammar

Here/There/Home, we often don’t need a preposition

For – total time.     We have class for 4 hours.

I’ve been a teacher for 6 years.   (You know I’m still a teacher)

I was a teacher for 6 years. (You know I’m not a teacher now)

I had been a teacher for five years before I met my wife. (Was a teacher for five years, then he met his wife, now he is PROBABLY still a teacher)

I had been a teacher for five years before I met my wife, then I worked for 2 more years before I retired.
