military – Army, is a part of the military

eg: The army is a part of the military.

general (N.) – a high level person in the military

eg: Our place is owned by ex army generals.

micro-manage – manage every detail of something, telling you how to do EVERYTHING!

eg: My boss is always micro-managing me, he even checks to make sure I wrote the email address correctly.

self-esteem – how people think about themselves.

eg: He has no self-esteem, he is always saying he’s a loser and stupid and ugly.

eg: They think if scores are posted publicly, it will ruin the kids’ self-esteem.

above average – better than the middle

drive (N.) – the feeling that pushes you or makes you want to accomplish sth.

sense of accomplishment – the good feeling from finishing your hard work

eg: If everyone wins, then nobody can get a sense of accomplishment.

literally (ADV) – from the original meaning of the word. REALLY!

eg: He literally ate 20 hamburgers. I’m not joking!

eg: I’m starving, I could eat a horse. Not literally though, maybe just a half a horse.

eg: The puppy didn’t eat for 5 days, he was literally starving. If I didn’t save him, maybe he wouldn’t be here today.

eg: Don’t take it literally, it’s just a joke.

eg: I literally wanna escape Chinese New Year this time.
