I reviewed Yang Liu’s East Meets West on the weekend ,which is direct and interesting. I am impressed by the one of the picture of daily life of old people . In the west ,the elderly are used to taking care of pets like dogs and cats but in China, the elderly are used to taking care of children.
Yes, this situation is quite common in China .Let me speak from my experience here. I was raised by my grandparents in the childhood since my mom and dad were busy with work when they were young. When I was in primary school, my parents would pick me up from school and after school. If my memory serves, each Friday after school, my grandpa came by bike and took me to his home for weekends. He always rid on a bicycle for almost one hour from home to school and rid back for one hour as well. I sat on the back of grandpa’s bike each Friday and spent a pleasant weekend in grandpa’s home . This is the most memorable time that I spent with my grandparents who always give me love without condition.

I would sit on the back of grandpa’s bike each Friday and spent a pleasant weekend in grandpa’s home .
This is the most memorable time that I spent/I had with my grandparents who always gave me love without conditions. / unconditional love.
