about the conditional : https://www.perfect-english-grammar.com/conditionals.html

first conditional to talk about something which could happen in the present
If I have enough money I will buy some new shoes  ( I can get enough money, it is possible/ maybe I just need to get my salary…)

If I pass this exam I will travel
I will get slimmer if I only eat a little

second conditional to talk about something which is unlikely to happen in the present
If I had enough money I would buy a pair of Louboutin shoes (those are expensive shoes and I really don’t have much money it is unlikely to happen / I am dreaming)
If I were a cat I would sleep all the time
If I were Italian I would dress up

in the second conditional if I was becomes If I were (exception)

If I were a cat I wouldn’t work
If I didn’t work I would watch movies
If I watched movies I would become a movie expert
If I became a movie expert I would be famous
If I were famous I would start my own brand
If I started my own brand I would hire a lot of models

third conditional to talk about something which can’t happen (you cannot change the past) in the past

If I had had enough money in my youth I would have bought a sports car

If I had been born in ancient China I would have been a king
If I had come to the airport on time I wouldn’t have missed the flight

If I had bought a fast car I would have got a lot of speed tickets
If I had gotten a lot of speed tickets I would have gone to the police station
If I had gone to the police station I would have been arrested
If I had been arrested I would have hired a lawyer

Mixed conditional condition in the past / result in the present (impossible)
If I had eaten lunch I would not be hungry now
If I had bought several apartments in SH 20 years ago I would be retired now

If I had passed the exam in 2019 I would be a university student in Beijing

condition in the past / result in the present

when you talk in the past always use a past simple first , this is going to be your point of reference. Then if you talk about something coming later (closer to now) you continue in the past simple.
If you talk about something even before use a past perfect
